Rollover in Varick Sends Two To Hospitals

Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a serious roll over PIMVA , that occurred on Rt 336 in the Town of Varick. Deputies report that Scott D Saunders age 32 of 23 Boston Ave Seneca Falls NY was eastbound on Rt 336 at a high rate of speed , when he lost control of the motor vehicle and went into a field and overturned several times. Scott Saunders was extricated from the vehicle and treated at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance , assisted by the Fayette Fire Dept. Scott Saunders was then airlifted by Mercy Flight to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and is in guarded condition where he is being treated for fractures to his back , neck and ribs , a collasped lung, and numerous contusions and abrasions. The front seat passenger , and vehicle owner, Richard S Laky age 37 of 6652 Vincent Hill Road, Canandaigua NY , was also extricated and treated at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance , and Fayette Fire, then transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester by Mercy Flight where he is in guarded condition and is being treated for fractured ribs, and is undergoing surgery for internal injuries. The rear seat passengers Kenneth A Bennett age 43 of 4788 Rt 96A Romulus and Kenneth D Saunders age 36 of 4429 Rt 414 Seneca Falls were transported by South Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital where they were treated and released for contusions and abrasions. Also assisting at the scene was North Seneca Ambulance, and Seneca Falls and Waterloo Fire Depts. Rt 336 was closed for several hours while Sheriff’s Department accident reconstruction officers investigated the accident. The vehicle, which was a 2006 Mustang was demolished and towed from the scene. Sheriff’s Deputies report that unsafe speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the crash. The investigation is continuing
