Continuing his crusade to keep Auburn Memorial Hospital open, NewYork State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio today announced that the 2007-2008State budget contains $500,000 for the hospital. This announced fundingwill bring the total amount of State aid that Senator Nozzolio has helpedsecure for AMH in the last year to $5.9 million.“This is another victory for Auburn Memorial Hospital, the residents of theCity and the surrounding communities,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Theservices provided by Auburn Memorial Hospital are vital for the criticalhealth care needs of the community and I am proud to continue to lead thefight to keep Auburn Memorial open for the residents and families in ourregion.”Throughout the years, Senator Nozzolio has been an ardent supporter andadvocate for Auburn Memorial Hospital. Last year, Senator Nozzolio workedto successfully secure $4.4 million in HEAL-NY funds for the hospital aswell as $1 million for equipment upgrades to emergency room operations.Robert K. Bergan, President of the Auburn Memorial Hospital Board ofTrustees, said, “This is more good news for the continued revitalization ofAuburn Memorial Hospital. Because of the Senator’s hard work, we areturning around our finances and this State funding will help to ensure abrighter future for the hospital and all of the people that it serves.”“It is important that New York State continue to make wise investments tostrengthen area hospitals and ensure the viability of health care servicesin Cayuga County. The funding contained in this year’s state budget willstrengthen the operations at Auburn Memorial Hospital to help ensure thatit continues to provide the highest quality services possible,” Nozzolioconcluded.
