Fourth Seneca County Man In Race For Sheriff

Another Seneca County resident has announced he wants to be the next Seneca County Sheriff. Jack Stenberg of Waterloo announced Monday that he is a candidate for the job. Stenberg has 32 years of law enforcement experience. He retired from the New York State Police in 1997. Stenberg supervisied the State Police Auburn and Waterloo BCI Units. For the past three years Stenberg has been employed as a special investigator with the Seneca County District Attorney’s Office. Stenberg – a Democrat- joins two other Democrats in the race for Sheriff. Robert Steele of Fayette and Louis VanCleef of Interlaken are in the race. Seneca County Democrat’s recently decided to let the September 11th primary decide who will receive the party’s endorsement. Republican Les Hayward of Lodi has announced he’s in the race. Incumbent Republican Sheriff Leo Connolly has not yet said if he will seek a second term in office.
