W-FL BOCES and the Finger Lakes Times will be sponsoring the 14th annual Scripps Howard Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 17, 2007 in the Albright Auditorium at Hobart & William Smith colleges in Geneva from 10:00 am till 12:30 pm. Two representatives will be sent from each of the participating sixteen school districts to compete in this year’s competition. The winner will receive the regional title and advance to the 80th Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. on May 30-31, 2007.Scripps Howard is the nation’s largest and longest running educational promotion, administrated through The E.W. Scripps Company, with over 268 sponsors in the United States, Europe and even Jamaica. Their propose is to “help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.” This year Scripps Howard will be celebrating their 80th year of spelling excellence.
