Kolb Announces Committee Assignments

Earlier this week Assemblyman Brian Kolb was named by Minority Leader Jim Tedisco to the role of Republican Leader Pro-Tempore, also known as Floor Leader. In addition to this new leadership role, Kolb will be serving as a member of the powerful Rules Committee, a key group of the Assembly with the task of channeling legislation to the Assembly Chamber.”In the new legislative session, I look forward to using my new leadership and committee assignments to promote my conference’s agenda, which is a message that resonates with all New Yorkers: passing property tax relief, transparency in government and holding the line on spending,” said Kolb.In addition to his new position on the Rules Committee, Kolb will continue serving as a member of the Assembly Insurance Committee. Assemblyman Kolb will also continue his agenda of improving the state’s business climate through his service as Chairman of the Manufacturing Taskforce. This taskforce travels the state to listen to local leaders and develop policies aimed at improving New York’s business climate.Kolb’s new position of Floor Leader is a prestigious promotion, generally regarded as the 2nd-highest ranking position in the Republican Conference after Minority Leader. When asked, Kolb said he is “honored by this appointment and will use it to be a strong voice for my fellow members, my constituents, and all my fellow New Yorkers.” The new leadership position and committee assignment is a welcomed promotion for Mr. Kolb, who was first elected to the State Assembly in 2000 and represents Cayuga, Cortland, Onondaga, Ontario and Seneca counties.
