White Springs Fire Fighters were thinking back to January 2003 when the call went out early this morning. Smoke coming from the rear of the Ponderosa Restaurant on Bean’s Hill in Geneva. Just before 5 this morning firefighters and Ontario County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the restaurant and found it wasn’t smoke, but steam escaping through a vent, and water running out from under a back door. Firefighters had to break a window to get into to building. A hot water heater had burst. On January 3rd , 2003 a fire at the same location totally destroyed the old Ponderosa Restaurant. Damage this time was to the front door window and to a back storage room.
