Hear how three Ithaca-based fiction writers beat the odds and got their work into print: Helena Maria Viramontes is a professor of English at Cornell University and former coordinator of the Los Angeles Latino Writers Association. She is the author of The Moths and Other Stories and Under the Feet of Jesus. First-novelist Rhian Ellis is the author of After Life, an”imaginatively rendered psychological suspense thriller” (Kirkus Reviews). Leslie Daniels has published stories in The Missouri Review, The Florida Review and The Louisville Review and is currently the fiction editor of The Green Mountains Review. Book lovers, readers and writers are invited to attend this free program sponsored by the City Federation of Women’s Organizations at the Women’s Community Building, Thursday evening, November 9, at 7:00 p.m. Each of these talented women will talk about their works, how they got started as writers, and what their plans are for the future. A Question & Answer session and book signing will follow the presentation; refreshments will be served too. Mark your calendar–and spread the word about the event to all the members of your book club!
