A Phelps man is dead and a Seneca Falls woman is hospitalized after the motorcycle they were riding Sunday afternoon collided with a car on Route 89 in Romulus. Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the accident at the intersection Route 89 and Ernsberger Road. A car operated by 78-year old Elaine Falkner of Rochester was north on 89 and attempted a left turn onto Ernsberger road pulling into the path of the motorcycle operated by 25-year old Justin Vanderwall of Phelps. The motorcycle hit Falkner’s vehicle then struck a second vehicle. Vanderwall was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger on the the motorcycle 20-year old Molly Fischer of Seneca Falls suffered hip and head injuries. She was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Falkner was uninjured, but a passenger in her car suffered minor injuries. The driver of the second car and his passenger were not injured. All three vehicles suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene. The investigation continues.
