Dansville opens their doors to 30,000 plus during the three day event Labor Day Weekend, September 1, 2, 3 for the 25th year. Fifty hot air balloons launch 6 AM and 6 PM, weather permitting starting Friday afternoon through Sunday evening with rides available for all flights.This year the festival salutes volunteer fire men and women and EMS volunteers in celebration to the festival 25th anniversary. Friday evening the official opening ceremony sponsored by Citizens Bank of Dansville, starts at 4:30 with the pilots briefing at 5:30 and scheduled launch to follows. Saturday evening launch is sponsored by Key Bank of Dansville. Red, white and blue ribbons will be handed out to the festival guest in honor of the fire men and women, and EMS volunteers. A brief ceremony will be held approx. 4:30 prior to the pilots briefing to honor the volunteers, followed by the mass ascension of over 50 hot air balloons. Sunday evening launch is an anniversary celebration – a 25 foot long cake will be served to the festival guest prior to the launch.On stage musical entertainment from 1 ‘til 6 PM features SIX Real Brothers, from Las Vegas performing songs from the 60’s era including Twist and Shout, I Can See Clearly Now, The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Elvis Medley. Performances Saturday and Sunday plus Ghost Riders and Lucky Number. Entertainment in the hospitality tent include Johnny Bauer and The Great Escape, Burnin’ Hills Band, and Bridge. A variety of musical entertainment for the entire family all included in the daily $5 admission (under 12 free).Saturday Car Display – race cars and drivers from Wyoming County International Raceway, and Sunday an open car showOver 100 vendors include favorite foods from around the world, and art and craft vendors displaying the talent of craftsmen locally and from the region. Attractions for children include rides, games, pony rides. This year adults can meet the challenge of a mechanical bull.This year we will feature the Anniversary Cake Hot Air Balloon for 25 years of Dansville Festivals of Balloons in the Valley of Livingston County. Additional special shapes include the popular “Purple People Eater”, “Pokey the Turtle”, “The Apple” , and “Old Mcdonald’s Farm”.
