A Madison County man was killed when he crashed a motorized glider Thursday morning on approach to the Canandaigua Airport. 63 year old Edward Keating of New Woodstock was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened just after 11:30 Thursday morning. Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero says the aircraft struck a tree when it attempted to land and crashed just south of the runway. An FAA flight examiner who was on board was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries.
