Sheriff Rob Outhouse reports that his office is continuing to work in conjunction with the New York State Canal Corporation in assessing the effects of flooding on the Seneca River and Cross Lake in Cayuga County.Undersheriff Steve McLoud flew as an observer today with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s helicopter “Air-One” over the flooded areas from Cayuga Lake to Cross Lake to determine what areas remain a hazard due to high water and debris. The Seneca River from the Cayuga Seneca junction east to and including Cross Lake remains flooded and will remain closed to all marine traffic in Cayuga County until further notice.*In cooperation with the Canal Corporation, the Cayuga Seneca Canal from Lock CS-1 to the Cayuga Seneca junction and the Erie Canal from the Cayuga Seneca junction to Lock E-25 will re-open for marine traffic at 7:00 AM Friday 07-21-06.**Note: The Erie Canal from the Cayuga Seneca junction to Lock E-24 will remain closed.
