A Livingston Country woman has been charged with cruelty to animals after she left he dog in her car yesterday and went to the movies. Ontario County Sheriffs Deputies arrested 49-year old Laurie Balcerak of Hemlock, New York. Deputies say Balcerak left her five month old cockapoo in her vehicle parked at the Wal-Mart Plaza in Canandaigua as she watched a movie. A Wal-Mart truck driver heard the dog barking and called 911. The dog died in the car as temperatures reached a record 92 degrees yesterday. Police say the car was parked in direct sunlight and one window was cracked open slightly. Balcerak will answer the charges in Hopewell Town court at a later date.
