One worker died and three were hurt when a natural gas drilling rig collapsed early this morning in Schuyler County. It happened shortly before 2 along Baker Hill Road in the Town of Dix. Schuyler County Sheriff’s deputies, Beaver Dams and Watkins Glen firefightrers and Schuyler and Dundee ambulance personnel responded to the scene. The 3 injured workers were taken to Arnot-Ogden Medical Center. The extent of their injuries and their conditions aren’t available. Investigators are searching for the cause of the collapse. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members. Officials say there’s no danger to the community from the collapse of the rig, owned by West Virginia-based Union Drilling.
