Ground Search For Missing Weedsport Man Ends

Sheriff Rob Outhouse reports that search efforts have ended this evening in the attempt to locate Alan Broder the 61 year old man that wandered away from the Evergreen Heights Adult Care Facility on Oakland Road on the northern border of Weedsport Tuesday afternoon.Over 70 Search and Rescue personnel including: Sheriff’s Deputies, Detectives, State and local police, NYS DEC Forest Rangers, Highland Search & Rescue along with Search & Rescue teams from Oswego and Onondaga Counties and the Weedsport Fire Department continued their efforts in the Village of Weedsport and Town of Brutus area until dark Thursday night.The last confirmable sighting of Mr. Broder was in the Oakland & Compton Road area as late as 5:00 PM Tuesday night.Sheriff’s Detectives have determined that the reported sighting at the Pilot Truck Stop on 7th North Street in Liverpool (Onondaga County) sometime around 8:00 PM Tuesday night was in fact not Mr.Broder. The aggressive ground search in the Town of Brutus has been terminated. Search & Rescue personnel are satisfied that the approximately four square mile area Mr. Broder was last seen in has been covered completely. “The Sheriff’s Office will respond to any and all leads in every attempt to locate Mr. Broder. We are requesting that anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Alan Broder or that has seen anyone matching his description contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at 315-253-1222.”
