Fatal Car-Deer Accident in Weedsport

Sheriff Rob Outhouse reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle accident on Route 31 in the Village of Weedsport at the western line with the town of Brutus. The cellular 911 call was received by the Cayuga County 911 Center at 6:14 PM. Upon arrival personnel found that two vehicles had collided with a very large adult male deer that was in the roadway.The preliminary investigation has disclosed as follows:A westbound vehicle, a 1992 Subaru operated by Donald Card 32 of Jackson Street, Lyons, NY collided with the deer in the traffic lane. The partially dismembered deer was forced into the eastbound traffic lane and was struck for the second time by an eastbound 2000 Dodge Caravan operated by Felix Revette 70 of King Street, Port Byron, NY. The deer carcass entered the passenger compartment killing the operator. The operator of the westbound vehicle (Card) was not injured.The Weedsport Volunteer Fire Department and the Weedsport Police Department assisted Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives at the scene along with an investigator from the Cayuga County Coroner’s Office.
