The run for a second national championship begins in earnest Thursday for the Syracuse University men’s basketball team and Finger Lakes Time- Warner cable subscribers will this year see most of the action from the comfort of their living rooms.Finger Lakes1.com has learned that once again this year, Time Warner Cable and Rochester’s WB16 WRWB-TV will broadcast eight Syracuse basketball games that are not being carried by CBS or ESPN. Last year Seneca and some Cayuga county cable subscribers missed the first meeting with St. John’s because of the way cable television markets are divided up. Only after Finger Lakes1.com brought the matter to the attention of Time Warner was the problem solved. Special arrangements were made to show the games on WB16 WRWB-TV on cable channel 7. Seneca and Cayuga County Time Warner customers don’t receive the WB16 WRWB-TV on a regular basis. This week’s start of the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament started us thinking about Syracuse and which games would be shown on television. So with the help of WB16 WRWB-TV General Manager Tish Robinson, Finger Lakes1.com has put together the 32-game schedule and which games will be shown on television.Syracuse plays 32-exhibition and regular season games. Ten of those games, before the start of the Big East season, will not be shown on television. Two Big East games have yet to be scheduled. Eight games will be shown on WB16 WRWB-TV. Ten games (if Syracuse goes on to win the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament) will be shown on a combination of ESPN or ESPN2. Two games will be shown on CBS.Here’s the schedule following the first two games against LeMoyne and Saint Rose which have already taken place:November 11th Coaches vs. Cancer- Syracuse/North Colorado – No TVNovember 18th Coaches vs. Cancer – Semifinals ESPN/ESPN2November19th Coaches vs. Cancer – Finals ESPN/ESPN2November 27that Siena WB16December 1stSt.Bonaventure WB16December 4th Colgate No TV December11th Oklahoma State ESPN December 18th Drexel WB16December 20th Cornell No TVDecember 22nd Rice No TVDecember 28th Albany No TVDecember 30th Hofstra No TVJanuary 5th St. John’s WB16January 8th Seaton Hall TBAJanuary 10th at Notre Dame ESPNJanuary 15th at Providence CBSJanuary 18th Georgetown TBA January 22nd West Virginia WB16January 24th at Rutgers ESPNJanuary 29th at Pittsburg ESPNFebruary 5thNotre Dame ESPNFebruary 7th Connecticut ESPNFebruary 12th at Villanova WB16February 14th Pittsburg ESPNFebruary 19th at Boston College WB16February 23rd St. John’s WB16February 26th Providence ESPN2March 5th at Connecticut CBSAll the games can be heard on the Finger Lakes News Network – WSFW AM1110, WGVA 1240AM, WCGR 1550AM, WFLR 1570AM, and WAUB 1590AM.
