Syracuse hires basketball replacement for Troy Weaver

Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim has named Kent State assistant Robert Murphy to replace Troy Weaver. Weaver was hired as a scout by the N-B-A’s Utah Jazz following a four-year tenure with the Orange. He announced his resignation on Friday. Murphy spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach on Jim Christian’s staff at Kent State. The Golden Flashes were 21-and-10 overall and 12-and-6 in the Mid-American Conference in 2002-2003. They reached the final of the MAC Tournament Championship and earned an invitation to the National Invitation Tournament. Last winter, the Golden Flashes were 22-and-9, 13-and-5 in the MAC, runner-up in the conference tournament, and participated in the N-I-T.
