Yesterday they said they would not discuss the landclaim. Not only did they discuss it, they voted to support it. The Cayuga County Legislature last night voted 13 to 2 in support of the state’s efforts to negotiate a settlement to the Cayuga Indian Landclaim. George Fearon of Springport and Raymond Lockwood of Aurelius voted against the plan. Cayuga County Legislature chairman Herbert Marshall who yesterday said most likely the issue of the landclaim would not come up at Tuesday night’s meeting, now says -quote ” I think it’s very important in the ongoing dialogue with the state that they know we support the concept of a negotiated settlement”. Last week the Seneca County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution that says the pending settlement is inadequate in meeting the needs of county residents.
