1600 Gallons of Ashphalt Spilled-Detours This Morning

A tractor-trailer accident near the intersection of Lake-to-Lake Road and Route 14A in the Town of Seneca has closed that area to traffic for several hours. Ontario County Sheriff’s say 40-year old David O’Brien of Groton was hauling a tanker truck filled with 1600 gallons of ashphalt emulson when he lost control on a sharp curve at the intersection of Route 14A and Lake-to-Lake Road. The truck rolled over, and most of the ashphalt spilled into a ditch. O’Brien suffered back and rib injuries, he was taken to Soliders and Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan. He was issued tickets for unsafe tires, failure to reduce speed, and not wearing a seatbelt. New York State DEC Hazard Spill Unit and the Hall Fire Department were called to the scene. The clean-up continues. Detours are set-up this morning around the accident scene.
