Lyons Expected to Approve School Budget

The Lyons School Board is expected to approve a budget at its April 20th meeting that will increase taxes five and half percent. The board had feared a double digit increase when it began work on the spending plan. Superintendent Fred Bragan says the budget takes care of basic educational needs, without cuts that directly affect students. Bragan says the district will save some money by sharing services with other districts. Two teachers who are retiring will not be replaced.
