Hospitals Oppose Budget Provisions

Area hospitals say they would lose millions of dollars under proposals in Governor George Pataki’s proposed budget. Officials from four health care companies in the Finger Lakes tell the Finger Lakes Times they’re urging the legislature to overturn a proposed tax on hospital revenues, an increase in the tax on nursing home revenues and a cut in Medicaid funding for hospital-based nursing homes. The hospital administrators say major cuts in services would be necessary if the proposals pass.
