Saying the State Senate’s Republican majority is drifting to the left, the state’s Conservative party is prepared to spend big bucks to back a challenge to Senator Nancy Larraine Hoffman. Former LaFayette Town Councilor and School Board member Tom Dadey announced his candidacy this week. Conservative Party chair Michael Long says wealthy conservatives may come up with as much as two million dollars in an effort to defeat Hoffman, who switched to the GOP in 1998. Hoffman has the support of Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno.
