The New York State Assembly Agriculture Task Force is in the Finger Lakes Region today. The group of lawmakers started with a tour of the New State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva. The group which in includes – Assemblyman Brian Kolb of Canandaigua, Assemblyman Gary Finch of Aurora , Assemblyman Jim Bacalles of Corning, and Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward of Glens Falls also toured the Jay Dey Farm in Ovid and toured the Wagner Vineyards and Micro-brewery in Lodi. They will be joined by others in the agricultural industry for a public forum from 3pm to 5pm in the Jordan Hall Auditorium at experiment station.

Photos: Dr. Olga Padilla-Zakour, Director of the Northeast Center for Food Entrepreneurship at the Experiment Station shows the group some of the group some of the many local, regional and national food products that have been developed with help of the center in Geneva. Dr Olga Padilla-Zakour and her staff between 2000-2002 worked with 349 entrepreneurs who needed food safety evaluation and regulatory compliance of 1,152 new products for commercialization.
