Tompkins County Health Department says Some Should Boil Water

The area wide power outage may have created an emergency at community water systems if water pressure was lost. If you are responsible for a water system serving an apartment building, a mobile home park, or a campground you had an emergency if your system lost pressure for four(4) or more hours. If water was not available for 4 or more hours, you should alert your customers to boil their water for two minutes prior to drinking. The boil water notice should not be removed until two consecutive bacteriological samples are free of total coliform. If you need assistance with your system, please call the Tompkins County Health Department at 607-274-6688.
