* The Geneva Theatre Guild will be holding auditions on May 29th at 7 pm at the Smith Opera House in downtown Geneva for its upcoming musical production, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Those auditioning are asked to wear comfortable clothes and bring a prepared song to sing. The Guild is also looking for people to work on the set, and in costumes, stage crew, makeup, and publicity. Call (315) 789-8985 for more information. * Finger Lakes Arts Grants and Services will host the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in four workshops to be held on May 29th and 30th. The workshops will take place at the New York Chiropractic College on Route 89 in Seneca Falls. For details, or to register, call (315) 781-7725. * A workshop, “Balancing Life Roles” will be conducted by Lifespan’s Women in Transition Services at the Ontario County Department of Workforce Development Office in Hopewell. The workshop will take place from 9:30 to 11 am on May 30th. The day will include a parade, two full military services, laying of wreaths, and dignitaries Mike Nozzolio, Brian Kolb, Ronald J. Bush, and others. For details, call (315) 539-2928. * The Rochester Amateur Radio Association invites the public to the Rochester Hamfest and Computer Show on May 30th from 12 noon to 5:30 pm, May 31st from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and June 1st from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Dome Center in Rochester. More than 5000 amateur radio enthusiasts are expected to attend. The event will feature exhibits, a flea market, and program on radio operation. Call (585) 424-1100 for more information. * Legott Productions Teen Concert Series will continue on May 31st from 7 to 11 pm at the Lyons Community Center. The performing bands will be Blind Identity, Forty Ounce Purge D.I., and A Day Without Rain. Admission is $5. The event is alcohol free and appropriate for all ages. * In recognition of National Stand For Children Day, a march will be held in Geneva on May 31st. Marchers will meet at 10:15 am behind the North Street School. Following the march will be the North-West Music EST from 11 am to 3 pm. The event will include entertainment, games, food, and raffles. In an effort to attract new donors, the Red Cross will be raffling off a TV, a DVD player, and a recliner. Course offerings include meditation, nautical map reading and plotting, herbal formulas and modifications, sea kayaking, business writing, and many computer-related courses. Tuition fees vary.
